Self-esteem is pride in yourself. In other words, it means having self-respect and/or having a positive image about yourself. It is essential to have self-esteem for your overall development. Self-esteem covers your positive qualities and it helps you develop a positive approach towards things therefore building up your self-confidence. Self-esteem also helps you face your problems with a positive and firm approach. Self-esteem plays an important role in everyone's life.

Some of the tips to develop self-esteem are as follows:

Be aware of the nature and type of the problem. You should always try to look at the problem in a positive ways. Sitting and crying about it, certainly will not help. Using a positive approach will give you a much better chance to improve the situtation and is the foundation of self-esteem.

Figure out your potential and capabilities. Acquire information about yourself. Having good knowledge about yourself is also very important.

What is your potential at handing things and situations? Figure out what things you are capable of and what things you are not capable of.

Be aware of your responsibilities. Accept your responsibilities instead of running away from them. Develop a positive approach towards your responsibilities. This approach will help you develop self-esteem.

Always use a positive approach towards your mistakes. Use your mistakes as opportunities to develop your qualities. After all, you are supposed to learn from your mistakes. Use them to your advantage.

Make sure you have aim and ambition in life. Set goals and start working accordingly and make the effort in the right direction to achieve your goals.
