Our intensive “hands-on” 3-week workshop is for you!

3-WEEK INTENSIVE WORKSHOP OUTLINE

Week 1 – “Caning”: 5.5 days

Cane a chair using the traditional 7-step method
“Blind” or “French” cane a frame
Sheet cane a seat
Binder cane (herringbone pattern) a stool

You will understand the do’s and dont's of proper chair caning as you learn to cane different projects.

You will also learn how to price the items that you will be commissioned to weave for customers.

Week 2 – “Weaving with Reed & Seagrass”: 5.5 days

You will be taught the proper techniques to weave a professional-looking seat using reeds and seagrass.

Flat reed stool (herringbone pattern)
Flat reed (smoked) stool (chevron)
Flat oval reed stool (basket weave)
Round reed stool (wicker)
Sea grass stool (checkerboard pattern)
Sea grass stool (basket weave)

You will be given the tools to set-up and market your own successful business.

Week 3 – “Weaving with Rush, Danish Cord & Rawhide”

You will weave timeless popular patterns onto several stools.

Twisted paper rush
Real rush
Danish cord
Rawhide
