Very Loud Door Bells

Adjusting the volume of your doorbell is a tricky thing. Most doorbells do have an adjustment function either in the form of a screw on the side of the chimes box inside the housing in the case of an older style doorbell or a digital adjustment for a wireless unit. But when you make that adjustment may result in you setting the volume too low for the times when the doorbell has to get your attention with some noise competition.

There are some circumstances where you might want your doorbell to have a loud chime so you are sure it will be heard. Some of those situations might include…

. When you are installing a doorbell for an elderly person who does not hear well. You want that senior citizen to be able to hear when a friend comes to call or the delivery of her medicine comes from the pharmacy.

. When the house is very lively with televisions or stereos being played loudly, people talking or other noisy activities going on. In a party-like atmosphere like this, you may want to think ahead and adjust your doorbell to the "very loud" setting so new guests can be heard at the door.

. When you will be far from the doorbell chimes. For example, if you are going to be working in the basement for the afternoon, this might be a good reason to turn up the doorbell chimes, especially if you are expecting someone during those hours.

. For an amusing way to get someone's attention. An example might be when you install a new doorbell chime that is the theme song to your spouse's college football team. On game day, you want that theme to sing out loud, especially during the game.

If the situation comes up often that you need to turn up the volume on your doorbell, this might be a justification for going to a digital system so access to the level of volume is part of the programming of the doorbell. Then you can adjust that level of sound the same way you adjust the thermostat of the home. It will be just another way you are customizing the home to fit what is going on there that day.

But in the case of putting in a doorbell that is loud for someone who is hard of hearing, you can find customized doorbells whose chimes come at a loud setting intentionally because they are made for the hearing challenged. By buying a doorbell especially suited to their needs, you are taking one more step to normalizing every aspect of your loved one's world. So in these circumstances, not only are doorbells with very loud ringers appropriate, they can really be a benefit to you or to someone who needs that kind of special help.
